Member of the International Election Observation Mission (IEOM) 2016

I had the great pleasure and privilege to be one of the members of the IEOM.

The 18 members of the International Election Observation Mission were invited by the Taiwan Nation Alliance and International Committee for a Democratic Taiwan to observe electoral activities from January 12 to 17 , before issuing a report evaluating the electoral process and conduct of political parties using international standards.

We have visited locations in Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung. We have been meeting with campaign organizers, staff, and candidates from the two main political parties (DPP and KMT) as well as various representatives of smaller parties (NPP,...). We have been observing political rallies (Taichung, Taipei) and other campaign activities. On election Day, we observed the conduct of the election at several polling stations and the Central Election Commission counting center.
